The past year has been a good year for me and my family and I will look back on 2013 with fondness. Its not just big and grand events that make a good year, but the little weekly & monthly events such as get togethers, parties, BBQs, and good friends make mine & my families life so much richer. Day to day with Jon and my children mean the world to me. A good farewell to 2013!

However I am very excited to see what 2014 brings... and its going to be my baby! Because he is still not here yet! Other stuff I'm looking forward to include buying a new home (our current house is too small for a family of 5) and a bigger car/SUV/or most likely a van. I will of course be returning to work full time at the end of the 2014 year.

That was just a little snippet of my personal life. In blogging, I am planning on taking January off, but I've been prepping posts and scheduling them to keep my blog active while I'm away. I currently have a small stockpile, and I should be able to get 4 posts a week if I can squeeze in a one or 2 manis here and there before the baby arrives.

Back to nails, here's another New Years Eve look created using Moon Sugars New Year's Eve decals:

To create the look above I used the following:
Finger Paints Paper Mache (base)
China Glaze Fairy Dust (Glitter)
OPI Alcatraz Rocks (Pinky, with top coat added)
Moon Sugar New Years Eves decals (Provided for review)
Diamond shaped glitter from an Essence pack (purchased at SDM)

You can see all my Moon Sugar reviews HERE

I LOVE the dancing crew! I love them so much! I can really see my-self pulling out these out after new years again, just to get at these little dancers. They even look really happy (and maybe a little drunk), and that's a feat considering they're stick people. Reminds me of this meme:

Thank you so much for reading over the last year!

I look forward to resuming live posts in about a month.

Moon Sugar Decals: New Year's Eve Nail Decals

Today I have the pleasure to share with you, another review from the always lovely Moon Sugar Decals. This time I have their fun, bright and party-ready New Year's Eve set to show you.

To create the above manicure I used the following:

China Glaze Light as Air
China Glaze Fairy Dust
Moon Sugar NYE Decals (Provided for review)
Finger Paints Paper Mache

Moon Sugar Decals are the style of water decals that need to be cut out of the sheet close to the image. They need to be layered on a lighter base colour because the printed image is not backed in white. The 2014 & champagne glasses in this manicure are already black, and would work over a more vibrant colour, however not all printed shades will due to transparency.

I started out making a tutorial on this manicure only to run out of battery power on my camera. sad face.

My Christmas Nails: Essie Velvet Voyeur

Hi Guys,

Today I want to show you the nails I wore from the 23th to the 27th! Insane right!? That's not like me to keep the same design for that long, but they held up well. I did get some corner chips, so its not like it was a miracle or anything, but when my schedule is busy, and I get overwhelmed with other stuff to do, my nails holding out is a nice treat.

Below is 3 coats of Essie Velvet Voyeur:
Essie Velvet Voyeur
Studs were added from my long ago purchased Color Club set. I recently used and mentioned this Color Club set HERE and HERE
Essie Velvet Voyeur is a deep purple that's almost black. A lot of people avoid these almost black shades because... well, you can just wear black nail polish, but there is something about these kind of shades that keep me coming back. Velvet Voyeur is one of my long time favourites (it was released in 2010), and always will be, it reads as a classy hue to me, from the brand, to the application, to the colour, even the name: Velvet Voyeur is sophisticated.

The colour deepens based of number of coats applied. Although I consider this shade & formula a creme finish, in direct lighting Velvet Voyeur seems to have some jelly like properties. I still wouldn't classify it as a jelly or the much-loved crelly (creme-jelly for those who don't know) finish.

For fun, here's a bottle pic:
I tried to play around with the lightness, contrast, brightness, and hue settings to get the bottle colour as true to real life as I could. I missed the mark, but its pretty close on my monitor (and the background is all messed). You can see the truest bottle colour in the first photo.

For Christmas I received a few nail art & polish related gifts this year. Including something really special from Santa. Yes, those are all links to different images of the same polish... you say that as if its a bad thing ;) lol.

Thanks for reading everyone! Have a great Saturday!

PS. If it is not to much trouble to ask, please (*pretty please*) vote for me in the China Glaze Holiday Nail Art Competition: HERE. You can read my original post: HERE. You need to vote for 3 different entries & activate your votes via e-mail address you provided.

China Glaze Holiday Nail Art Contest: Christmas Trees

Good morning!

Sorry for my unannounced lack of posting, I've been so tired thanks to my pregnancy, and super busy with Christmas stuff.

Belated Merry Christmas guys (if you celebrate it)! I hope you had a great time, and enjoyed all the food and festivities.

Still no baby yet either. I am getting ready to have this guy evicted soon though!

Today's post is my entry to the China Glaze Holiday Nail Art Competition:

There is only one picture today, because I was rushed doing this nail art, and the picture quality of most images was really bad.

I used the following Polishes:
China Glaze Light as Air (base)
China Glaze Electric Beat (tree)
China Glaze First Mate (dark blue)
China Glaze Fairy Dust (glitter)
Essie No Place like Chrome (silver)
Essie Good as Gold (gold)
OPI My Boy Friend Scales Walls (white)

If you would like to vote for me, please click HERE, one thing I really love about this contest is you vote for 3 of your favourites instead of just one! Also you'll need to activate your vote via e-mail.

Thanks for reading & all your support during this very busy time of year!

NailPolishCanada.com Miracurl Giveaway Announcement

A few days ago NailPolishCanada.com e-mailed and asked me to share their giveaway for the Miracurl by Babyliss. Of course I will guys :)

Here is NailPolishCanada.com official press release on the Giveaway:

It’s a Christmas Miracurl! - NailPolishCanada.com is giving away 3 Babyliss Miracurl’s ($600 value)

Every holiday season millions experience a sense of sadness at the flatness in their life. In an effort to cope some find themselves straining important relationships.

“I know my husband loves me, but another day where I’m running late trying to curl my hair in a mad dash is just a fight waiting to happen”  - Katie B

Could people go without curled hair? They could, but experts agree such a lack of regard and care is sure to result in a coal filled stocking.

“After the economic downturn Santa has had limited resources and he too has to make cuts, it’s not only naughty or nice anymore, but how you present yourself.” noted Mrs. Claus

Today Nail Polish Canada has announced their plans to take a stand and solve this important issue with the Babyliss Miracurl. In just seconds the Miracurl literally sucks your hair right in, curls it, then beeps letting you know it's done.

In order to raise awareness Nail Polish Canada is giving away 3 Babyliss Miracurls, to whoever can convince us they are the most “in need” of one.

“This will impact people’s lives. Together we can make a Christmas Miracurl”
- Nikki Smith, VP Glitter *This is our favorite pun ever and we’ve been using it around the office for weeks

Simply describe why you or a loved one is in need of a Christmas Miracurl at: http://www.nailpolishcanada.com/products/miracurl-by-babyliss.html

In the spirit of a true Christmas Miracurl the winners will be announced Christmas Day!

Notes about nominations: Feel free to stretch the truth a bit and most importantly have fun.
*   *   *   *   *   *
Here is a vid showing how it works (its also linked on nailpolishcanada.com site). I also did some You-tubing on this product and it looks so neat! I also inadvertently got sucked into the world of hair tutorials... who knew there was more then just the pony tail out there ;)

If you have ever seen me in real life, you know I have stick straight hair that is, 99% of the time, pulled up in a busy-mom pony tail. Since this giveaway seems to be aimed directly at me, I decided to try and convince npc.com of my need to try the Babyliss Miracurl through a poem written just for them. I hope you enjoy!

Roses are red,
My hair looks dead :(
Violets are blue,
I would love a beautiful down-do,
to rock at a party,
or to wear for Christmas
but doing so will make me tardy
and I'll have lots of hair-spray stiffness.
but my hair is stick straight
and curling makes me late.
My poor husband gets mad
and it makes me feel sad,
knowing my stick-straight hair
is the cause of all this despair!
The only help for this girl
Is winning the Christmas Miracurl

I hope you guys don't judge me too harshly on my poetic abilities! :)

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Moon Sugar Decals: Santas

Good Morning!

I just have a quick little mani I did to show off these ADORABLE little Santa's from my Moon Sugar Christmas Decal sheet I reviewed HERE.

They were too cute not to put on the very next mani. I also added some festive colours and studs to complete the look.

To create the above look I used:
Moon Sugar Christmas Decals (provided for review)
China Glaze Ruby Pumps
China Glaze Glittering Garland
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Studs I got from a Color Club pack from Winners a long time ago (likely before I started blogging lol)

I will let the pictures do the talking:

You can read my full review on the Christmas Sheet HERE and other Moon Sugar Decals reviews HERE. They also kindly provided me with a 25% off coupon (25NAILCALL).

Sorry for the quick post! Turns out being a stay-at-home-mom is just as busy as being a working mom!

Moon Sugar Decals : Wrapped Gifts

Good Monday everyone!

My maternity leave officially starts today, I feel a little strange writing this on Sunday night, knowing that I won't be going into work in the morning. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and the count down for our new baby is on!
I'm hoping to spend my last few days prepping for Christmas, stock piling on blog post, and not to mention baby stuff!! Jonathon already got our first round of new-born-sized diapers over the weekend.

Today I'd like to share with you my Wrapped Gifts mani and review on Moon Sugar Christmas Nail Decals. This look is completely appropriate for me today, because I know exactly what I'm doing...Wrapping all my kids, plus Jon's gifts... before last minute on Christmas eve, unlike last year ;)

Wrapped Gifts:
I used the following:
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Moon Sugar Christmas Decals
and various colours for dots including:
OPI Greenwich Village
OPI Malaga Wine
OPI Tomorrow Never Dies
GOSH Pool Party

The decals are great, they seem to be made of a sturdier material then other water decals I've tried in the past, yet still lay completely flat on the nail, with top coat added they blend into the base polish perfectly. Moon Sugar decals need to be cut down to size from the sheet they come on, but since I naturally have small nails, I often need to cut decals/stickers down to size. If time allows I will try and make a tutorial. The decals are sheer and work best over a light coloured background.

Another way I can give you an idea of how well these work, is I used them in my Nail Polish Canada Nail Art Challenge post, and that's a competition I would love to win. (side note: you can vote for your favourite HERE)

Nail Polish Canada 2nd Holiday Nail Art Challenge: Week 3

Good morning Ladies and Gents,

Today I have my final entry for the NailPolishCanada.com 2nd Holiday Nail Art Challenge. The theme for this week is Holiday Memories which, according to Nail Polish Canada is their "catch all" for: whatever your favourite part of the holidays is.

I have many things I love about the holidays, but one of my favourite (and fun) aspects is how OK and acceptable it is to really love Christmas, it's the norm now to be way over the top in lots of cases (just ask my neighbours!!).

From November on you're basically bombarded with Christmas imagery. I'm learning from raising my own growing family, that the holiday season is just as important as those few wee hours in the morning of Christmas day, and all hard work leading up to that morning, make it memorable for my little ones. My inspiration for my mani below is exactly that: colours, images, and glitter that reminds me that it's Christmas time.

Week 3:

To create the festive look above I used:
OPI Don't Touch My Tutu
OPI Malaga Wine
OPI Glow Up Already
Moon Sugar Christmas Decals (Provided for review)
MASH Plate 41
Konad Plate M73
Maybeline Bold Gold
Gems from a Color Club nail art set I purchased from Winners a LOooong time ago.

The cluster idea was inspired by THIS mani.

You can vote for your favourite Holiday Memories HERE. Many many thanks if it so happens to be my entry.

I would also like to extend my thanks to NailPolishCanada.com for inviting me into this fun and exciting nail art challenge. I was honored to be invited to join & had a great time participating. Thank you!

If you like nail art, then I strongly encourage you to check out all the amazing entries that went into this years challenge. Click for WEEK 1, WEEK 2 and again WEEK 3. There are a lot of amazing designs, and many many talented bloggers I'm happy to have discovered through this challenge.

Thank you for reading!

OPI Red and Gold Chevrons

Good morning lovelies,

I'm suffering a bit writers block at the moment, so please forgive me, I don't have a big lead in for todays post. Again I'm totally blaming it on being 38 weeks pregnant, and my brain is out to lunch for the next 2 weeks. To create the look below I used my two shining stars (in my opinion) from the OPI Mariah Carey CollectionOPI All Sparkly And Gold, and OPI Underneath The Mistletoe

Here is my OPI red and gold half moon chevrons manicure:

I used the following:
OPI Underneath The Mistletoe
OPI All Sparkly And Gold
French tip guides from Claires (purchased by me, many, many, many, moons ago)

In looking at these pictures, you can see how Underneath The Mistletoe really morphs according to lighting. This red is anything but basic & so beautiful to behold. I know I said it before, but no one does red nail polish like OPI's holiday releases, if you see a limited edition shade you love NAB it!

And there you have it! Another super simple manicure (just what the doctor ordered... serious!) :P

Thank you for stopping in and reading.

Have a great day!

PS please vote for your favourite submission in to the NailPolishCanada.com nail art competition HERE (psst! I am number 34, if you happen to like my submission).

Bye for now! <3

White with Black and Silver Leaves

Hello & Good Monday to you!

I hope your weekend went well! I had my companies Holiday party on Saturday and had a great time. They did a casino theme with poker, black jack & craps, plus tons of draws (Jon and I didn't win... but lots of ppl did!). Since I was working on-call that night, some of my co-workers prank called me, saying Santa had a "line down" situation lol! Silly guys! The only negative part was my feet got so swollen by the end of the night I could barely walk, which sucked! But over all, lots of fun and tons of good laughs :)

Today I'd like to show you a "one off" mani. I created it on one hand to see if I liked it (which I did) and then I tried to re-create it for my holiday party, using different colours and it just wasn't the same. My inspiration came from THIS image on pinterest.

I used the following:
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Essie No Place Like Chrome
Cult Nails Nevermore
MASH plate 37

I don't really have alot to say in addition to what I did above  (pregnancy brain? writers block? I don't know...), but I hope you enjoyed this simple colour palette mani.

Thanks for stopping in!

PS: If you have an extra minute, please check out my Nail Polish Canada Holiday Nail Art Challenge Week 2: Decoration entry HERE. You can also vote for your favourite HERE (I'm number 34 if you happen to like mine).

Thanks again!

Nail Polish Canada 2nd Holiday Nail Art Challenge: Week 2

Hello everyone!

Sorry for missing the last week in blogging. As I finish up my 37th week of pregnancy, I'm finding it hard to keep up with a blogging routine.

I definitely didn't want to miss my chance to make a submission into NailPolishCanada.com  week 2 of their Holiday nail art challenge, so I scrambled to get this pull this together! The theme was decorations, and I had such a hard time thinking of anything. My inspiration came from this pinterest image and Elizabeth's idea to use a nude base for her submission HERE.

Week 2:
To create the above look I used:
OPI Barre My Soul
Claires Gold Top Coat
China Glaze Ruby Pumps
China Glaze Emerald Sparkle

The whole look was created using dotting tools of various sizes, and didn't take very long to complete

Here's a close up of my thumb, which I did my wreath. Again I used all dotting tools to create this as well.

You can check out all submissions & vote for your favourite HERE.

I gotta run!!! I have my work holiday party tonight, and I'm no where near being ready!

Thanks for stopping by!

Bright Red Skittlette

Hey there!

Todays mani is what you get when I have a rare opportunity to just "play" with polish, I had a few of these bottles out, and I created this skittlette on the fly.

Bright Red Skittlette:

I used the following:
OPI My favorite Ornament (gold)
Sparitual Poppy (red)
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Moon Sugar Decal (provided for review)
Cult Nails Nevermore

This isn't the first time I paired red, white, gold and black together... actually this look from early September used almost all the same polishes as above :)

Please check out last weeks review on the Frangipani Flower Decal from Moon Sugar.
The decal is almost seamless with top coat applied, and from any distance its completely invisible.

Moon Sugar offers a 25% off code for Nail Call readers: 25NAILCALL
Ok now I'm changing the topic just a little:

I would just like to remind/ask you to please vote for your favourite mani in the NailPolishCanada.com Holiday Nail Art Challenge.

Nail Polish Canada 2nd Holiday Nail Art Challenge: Week 1

I'm really excited to let you know I was invited by NailPolishCanada.com to participate in their 2nd Holiday Nail Art Challenge. After watching many of my blogger friends in last years competition, I eagerly jumped aboard to join in this years challenge!

Week 1's theme is snow! It's so fitting because here in Southern Ontario (where I live) we recently got a massive dumping of it over the weekend. My small town escaped fairly untouched compared to other towns aprox. 1/2 hour to 45 mins away, they got about 18 inches in one night. That's Canada eh?

Week 1: Snow
To create the above look I used the following:
Zoya Sailor (base)
OPI Snowflakes In The Air
Color Club Harp On It (used as stamping polish)
Konad M59

This is a very simple and somewhat typical snow themed manicure. I love snowflake patterns, and over a dark base they stand out well, its easy to see why there have been many similar looks in the past. Here's a version I did last year.
This is also the 2nd day in a row I've used Zoya Sailor. Its a beautiful 2 coater blue creme that leans ever so slightly towards purple. Absolutely flawless shade.

Close up:

In case you were curious, here is what the mani looked like without OPI Snowflakes in the Air:
If you are interested in checking out the other entries & voting for your favourite, I encourage you to do so HERE. If your favourite happens to be mine then... Thank you! You're awesome :D

Also if you would like to participate in the challenge, please sign up HERE, the more the merrier! :)

Thanks for visiting.

KKCenterHK Review: 1.5mm Circular Studs

How was everyone weekend? Good I hope!

On Friday I had the pleasure of going to my 2 year old sons, Isaac's, Christmas party, and got to watch all the kids sign a few Christmas songs. Of course Isaac sat up on stage terrified the whole time! He also had a huge melt down when we visited Santa. It was "adorable" ^.^'... yep that screaming kid having a melt down on Santa knee... That'd be mine!

Another huge thing (for me) is Jon and I went to see Catching Fire... or "Hunger Games 2" in theatres. We rarely ever go out to the movies, and I was dying to see this. It was so good! If you liked the first movie, you'll like this one. And oh my god I cried, probably 8 different times... and spoiler (kinda): If you read the book, you're going to cry in the first 10 mins! I could tell the random lady sitting next to me was a fan because her and I were both crying at all the same parts. All I can tell you is read the books, then go see it!

Today I'd like to share my review for KKCenterHK 1.5mm Circular Studs:
To create the above look I used:
Zoya Sailor
KKCenterHK 1.5mm Studs (provided for review)

To apply the studs you need to have a semi-wet base of polish, or nail art glue, and a dotting tool/toothpick dipped in clear nail polish to pick up the studs. Then you simply place the stud on the tacky polish, where it should stay, and keep adding for the desired effect. When you have all studs in place, add a layer of top coat to seal the deal.
You can find the Studs HERE for $3.81. Feel free to use 10% coupon: nailcall.

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for stopping in!

Comparison: OPI Snowflakes in the Air vs. OPI Servin Up Sparkle

Hello & happy Friday!

All I can say is hurry up and let the weekend begin!

Today I have a little comparison I did between OPI Snowflakes in the Air (reviewed HERE) and OPI Servin Up Sparkle:
Base: OPI Russian Navy (my newest np crush)
Index & Ring: OPI Snowflakes in the Air
Middle & Pinkie: OPI Servin Up Sparkle

While the 2 toppers are the same colour of silver holo glitter, the over all composition is completely different. Snowflakes In The Air has large and medium hex glitter mix meant to give sparse, yet even coverage. While Servin Up Sparkle, has a mix of large and small glitters, and fuller coverage. OPI Servin Up Sparkle is meant to stand out and be noticed. Both formula's were perfection.

Bottle shots!

I see no reasonable person needing both of these, but if you love silver, holo, and glitter you may want both! If I could only stash one I would keep OPI Servin Up Sparkle, but right now I have plans to keep both.

Have an amazing weekend everyone!!

Thanks for reading,
